Catch-Up & Cleanup Bookkeeping FAQ's
How much does catch-up bookkeeping cost in Cincinnati?
Catch-up pricing is calculated as your monthly tier × months behind ÷ 2. For example, a Small Business client ($350/month) one year behind = ($350 × 12) ÷ 2 = $2,100 starting price. A Solo client ($200/month) three months behind = ($200 × 3) ÷ 2 = $300. The interactive calculator on this page lets you plug in your tier and backlog to see your starting price. Every cleanup includes full transaction review, bank and credit-card reconciliation, adjusting journal entries, and a tax-ready P&L + Balance Sheet.
Why is cleanup priced as a formula instead of priced tiers?
The work scales with two variables: how many transactions per month you have (your tier) and how many months you're behind. A high-volume business one quarter behind takes the same effort as a low-volume business a full year behind. The formula — monthly tier × months ÷ 2 — keeps pricing fair across both ends of that spectrum without bundling everyone into one-size-fits-all tiers.
Can you clear up a year of neglected Quickbooks before tax sesaon?
Yes. A Small Business 12-month cleanup at the $2,100 starting price typically takes 3–4 weeks once bank statements and QBO accountant access are provided. For Arizona businesses racing an April 15 deadline, we prioritize cleanup engagements starting in early January so your CPA has clean books to file from in March. Book the free consultation by the first week of January to guarantee tax-season turnaround.
What do you need from me to start a cleanup?
Three things: QuickBooks Online accountant-level access, downloadable bank and credit-card statements covering the catch-up period, and a brief list of known problem areas (missing deposits, wrong categorizations, unclear owner draws). That's it — we rebuild from bank feeds. No spreadsheet homework.
What if my books are unusually messy?
If your file has duplicate transactions, mispostings, or broken bank feeds exceeding 15% of total entries, we'll flag the additional scope on the free consultation call before you sign — the starting price may increase to reflect the actual reconstruction work. The goal is honest scope: you see the number before the work starts, not after.
What if I'm more than two years behind?
Multi-year backlogs use the same formula but get scoped on a free consultation call. Typical multi-year cleanups run 6–10 weeks and include weekly status reports so you always know where the work stands. If part of the backlog is older than your available bank statements, we'll tell you what we can and can't reconstruct before you sign.
Can I transition to monthly bookkeeping after cleanup?
Yes — and that's the recommended path. Once your books are caught up, Carleski Accounting transitions you into the monthly bookkeeping tier (Solo $200, Small Business $350, Growing $500, or Multi-Account $1,000) that matches your volume. The cleanup engagement rolls straight into monthly with no separate onboarding fee.
